Short, but fun.

Monday, July 31, 2006 2:12 AM (Ottawa)

I went to Barrymores tonight with some friends as a sort of going away party. It ended up being 5 of us, and I had a lot of fun even though the night ended too early for my taste.

Lisa and Renuka were the first to leave, though they beat the rest of us by less than a minute. Renuka had to work the next morning and she was Lisa's ride so it had to be an early night for them. It's too bad because I haven't gone clubbing with either of them at all since I got back.

A friend from work came along, and despite my request and constant reminders for a week before the event he still hit on Tanya. I think that may have been a key factor in her decision to cut the night short. If you're reading this Tanya, sorry about that. I've never seen him drunk before, otherwise I might have known better.

Hopefully the 1 night club in Pembroke is a decent one, I love clubbing and I'd hate to have to go two years without access to a club. I'm going to have to drag people out to Pembroke to try it out with me.

I'm hoping that I'll get a lot of visitors in Pembroke actually, but I'm not certain how realistic that is. It would be nice to have friends come out and spend the weekend occasionally to help me keep my sanity in a small hockey obsessed town.

School

7:32 PM July 17, 2006 (Ottawa)

I haven't been very good about updating my journal lately. When things happen I think about doing it, but I'm usually at work where I can't access this site, or too busy dealing with the situation. By the time it's over I just don't want to think about it anymore.

So here's a little update for you all.

I after getting stuck on the never-ending wait list for Algonquin again, it didn't look promising. Fortunately I discovered that Algonquin had another campus in Pembroke. A much smaller campus, but one that offers my program without a waiting list. I immediately applied, and I was accepted 2 days later.

Since then I've been to Pembroke twice to look at apartments, and apply for a job. I've had mixed success. I will be arriving in Pembroke jobless, but with an amazing apartment. $450/month all inclusive for a one bedroom apartment. The apartment comes with great furniture, satellite television, a stereo, high speed internet, and central airconditioning. The last is what I'm looking forward to the most at the moment as I slowly cook in our ridiculous summer heat.

The deadline to pay for school was July 15th, which was a Saturday so they told me July 17th was fine. On July 10th I sent my check directly from a post office using one of those prepaid envelopes the school gives you, and I made a point of asking the lady at the desk when it would be delivered. She told me it would take 2-3 days.

I've watched my bank account very closely since I sent that check, and it hasn't been cashed yet. So now I'm freaking out. Today was the deadline for payment, and they haven't cashed my check or sent my anything to acknowledge they received it!

I called them on Friday and the told me to wait until Monday before I got concerned. So now it's Monday and I'm concerned. When I called today I didn't get through though, so I don't know what's going on.

I am worried. Very worried. I've put a deposit on the apartment in Pembroke. I haven't given notice at work yet, but everyone knows I'm moving away August 1st.

Who would have thought I'd ever find myself sitting at home hoping that somebody would take over a thousand dollars out of my bank account.
